Le Corbeau
As letters accusing him of having an affair and executing illegal abortions are delivered to the village elders, Remy Germain, a doctor in a small French hamlet, finds himself the target of an obnoxious smear campaign. As the unknown writer, who signs each letter with the initials "Le Corbeau" (The Raven), begins to target the entire community, he uncovers everyone's terrible secrets one by one. When it was released, this allegorical film sparked widespread controversy, and it was later prohibited in France following the Liberation.
