Bisbee '17
It's 2017 in Bisbee, Arizona, an old copper-mining town just miles from the Mexican boundary. The community's close-knit community prepares to celebrate the 100th wedding anniversary of Bisbee's darkest hr: the infamous Bisbee Deportation of 1917, throughout which 1,200 striking miners were strongly drawn from their houses, eliminated to the middle of the desert, and also left to pass away. Townspeople confront this terrible, misinterpreted past by presenting remarkable entertainments of the rising strike. These dramatized scenes are based on subjective versions of the tale as well as "guided," in a feeling, by homeowners with conflicting sights of the occasion. Deeply individual sectors torn from family history construct towards a huge restaging of the deportation itself on the precise day of its 100th anniversary.
