Today
Today is an American morning show that airs on NBC every day. The show's first broadcast was on January 14, 1952. It was the first show of its kind on American TV and in the world. It is also the fifth longest-running American TV show. It started out as a two-hour show on weekdays, but in 1987 and 1992, it grew to include Sundays and Saturdays. In 2000, the weekday broadcast went from two hours to three, and in 2007, it went from three to four. The other networks didn't really try to compete with Today until the late 1980s, when ABC's Good Morning America beat it. The week of December11,1995, Today took back the top spot in the Nielsen ratings. It stayed there for 852 weeks, until the week of April9,2012, when Good Morning America once again beat it. In2002, Today was listed as the 17th best TV show of all time by TV Guide.
