Fuyumi Ono is the author of the light novel series Ghost Hunt, which was formerly known by its original title, Akury Series. It chronicles the exploits of the Shibuya Psychic Research Center as they explore unusual phenomena all throughout Japan with a team of other spiritualists and astute aides. These adventures take place in both the present and the past. Despite the fact that the last novel was written and published in1994, the story was never finished. Even though Ono's statement has never been officially confirmed to be in reference to Ghost Hunt, speculation has arisen regarding the continuation of the series after the creator, Fuyumi Ono, stated in an interview that she was resuming work on a "girls' horror story" that she began working on a long time ago. The statement was made in response to a question regarding whether or not the series would continue. In1997, the novels were turned into a radio play that was broadcast on the Akury Series. The manga adaptation was written by Shiho Inada and illustrated by the same person. It was first published in Nakayoshi on July7,1998, and it is still being serialized there today. Kodansha has compiled and released all of the individual chapters in a total of eleven tankbon volumes. It has been granted a license for publication in the English language and will be distributed as Ghost Hunt by Del Rey Manga in North America and by Tanoshimi in the United Kingdom. J.C. Staff adapted the manga into an anime, which debuted on October3, 2006 on TV Tokyo in Japan, where it aired for a total of twenty-five episodes until coming to an end. Funimation Entertainment, which also released movies under the moniker Ghost Hunt, has the license to distribute the anime in the English-speaking market on DVD for Region 1.
