Monsieur Verdoux
Henri Verdoux, a banker out of work, is the focus of the film, which follows him as he devises increasingly bizarre ways to get money. Verdoux has been laid off, despite being both loyal and skilled in his job. He murders wealthy widows and their children to provide for his wife and child's needs. When two widows deviate from his usual schedule, his crime spree backfires.
