Vanished is a 20th Century Fox television serial drama series. The series started on Fox on August21,2006, and the final episode aired on November10, 2006. The series, set in Atlanta, Georgia, opens with the mysterious abduction of a Georgia senator's wife, which is quickly revealed to be part of a larger plot. The missing woman's family, two FBI agents, a journalist, and her lover/cameraman are all entangled into a developing mystery with political and religious overtones. The series was conceived by CSI writer Josh Berman and executive produced by Mimi Leder, who also directed the series, and Paul Redford. The intended 22-episode series was ordered to be canceled after the 13th episode, according to USA Today on October26, 2006. The story arc of finding Sara Collins was supposed to be completed, with the mystery of a bigger conspiracy left hanging in case the series was prolonged. Fox revealed on November16,2006, that the show would terminate following a final episode in December. The final episode of Vanished was released online on December8, 2006. The production team was notified a few months before the show's cancellation that they needed to explain Sara's destiny by the 13th episode, but none of the other plotlines were resolved.
