Treasure Hunters is a reality television series on NBC and Global Television in which ten teams of three attempt to solve the ultimate riddle and win the big reward by solving puzzles and completing challenges. Teams scour the United States and Europe for seven "artifacts" that, when assembled, "lead to the key. Uncover the key, and you'll find the treasure." The obstacles and puzzles are interwoven with American history, and the final objective is to locate a buried treasure, prompting comparisons to the film National Treasure. In the series' season finale, a value of $3,000,000 was revealed for the treasure. The two-hour premiere aired on June18,2006, and the series moved to its usual Monday night time slot on June 26. On August 21, 2006, the season finale was shown live. The format of The Hunt is comparable to The Amazing Race. Key variations consist in: Teams have three members as opposed to The Amazing Race's typical two. The beginning point of each leg is not necessarily the conclusion of the preceding leg. Teams begin each leg at the same time; Amazing Race teams have staggered starts based on the order in which they completed the previous leg.
