The Inspector Alleyn Mysteries
The Inspector Alleyn Mysteries is a British detective television series based on nine novels by Ngaio Marsh featuring Roderick Alleyn. Between 1990 through 1994, the show first broadcast. Inspector Alleyn was portrayed by Simon Williams in the pilot episode. Detective Sergeant Fox, Alleyn's right-hand man and "Watson," was portrayed by William Simons, while Alleyn's love interest, painter Agatha Troy, was portrayed by Belinda Lang. Williams was unavailable when the first series was produced, so while Simons and Lang retained their original roles, Patrick Malahide assumed the part of the principal character. The BBC produced nine episodes based on nine distinct novels. The eight Malahide episodes are available on DVD in the United States and the United Kingdom. A collection from Australia contains all nine episodes.
