As astronauts prepare for and carry out flights on the Space Shuttle, The Cape chronicled the lives of a few members of the NASA Astronaut Corps at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. At one point in the series, Corbin Bernsen portrays US Air Force Colonel Henry J. "Bull" Eckert, a veteran astronaut who served as both Director of Astronaut Training and Chief Astronaut Office Chief. Filming for the show took place in and around Cape Canaveral, Florida, with an emphasis on authenticity. Technical assistance was provided by former astronaut Buzz Aldrin.
