The Bastard Executioner

The story of Wilkin Brattle, a warrior in the 14th century, whose life is changed forever when a divine messenger tells him to put down his sword and live the life of another man: a journeyman executioner. Wilkin must walk a tightrope between protecting his true identity and fulfilling a mysterious destiny. The story takes place in northern Wales during a time when there was a lot of rebellion and political upheaval. Wilkin is led by Annora, a mysterious healer who seems to know everything and keeps Wilkin under her control. He is also manipulated by Milus Corbett, a sly Chamberlain with big political goals, and is driven by a growing connection with the Baroness Lady Love. All of these things make it hard for Wilkin to figure out what his bigger purpose is.
