Team Knight Rider ran from 1997 to 1998 and was based on the Knight Rider franchise. TKR was created by Rick Copp and David A. Goodman, based on the original series by Glen A. Larson. TKR was created by Gil Wadsworth and Scott McAboy and syndicated by Universal Domestic Television. After 22 one-hour episodes, it was terminated due to weak ratings. A new crew of high-tech criminal fighters established by the Foundation for Law and Government follow in the footsteps of Michael Knight and his supercar KITT. In place of "one man making a difference," there are now five team members with computerized talking vehicles. Like the original duo, TKR hunts "above the law" criminals like spies, assassins, terrorists, and drug dealers. Michael Knight appeared from behind at the end of the season's last episode.
