After premiering on July 11, 2003, Spider-Man: The New Animated Series was a 13-episode American animated series based on the Marvel comic book superhero Spider-Man. Sam Raimi's Spider-Man picture from 2002 serves as a loose prequel to this sequel. Computer-generated images were created in cel shading and aired on MTV and YTV. During the Jetix television block on ABC Family eight months after the series finale, episodes were replayed. For an animated comic book adaptation, this was a significantly more mature take on the character than most previous television iterations have offered viewers. Several characters are firmly indicated to have had intercourse during the narrative, rather than the normal ambiguous disappearance.
