From September 9, 1967, through June 14, 1970, Spider-Man was an animated television series. It was the first animated adaptation of the Spider-Man comic book series, developed by writer Stan Lee and artist Steve Ditko, and was produced simultaneously in Canada and the United States. It premiered on ABC in the United States before being picked up by syndication at the start of the third season. The first season was developed by Grantray-Lawrence Animation. Producer Ralph Bakshi worked in New York City to create Seasons 2 and 3. Teletoon Retro is showing it in Canada right now. The series has sparked a massive online meme, dubbed 1960s Spiderman. The meme is made up of a snapshot grabbed at a random point in the series with some obsceneand/or hilarious text added to it. Only three cast members have survived since Max Ferguson's death on March 7, 2013. The voices of Spider-Man, Mysterio, and the Scorpion are provided by Paul Soles, Chris Wiggins, and Carl Banas, respectively.
