Sophie
Sophie is a Canadian sitcom that aired on the CBC from January9, 2008 until March23, 2009. It stars Natalie Brown as Sophie Parker, an unmarried single mother and talent agent. The show is an English-language translation of Sophie Paquin's Télévision de Radio-Canada broadcast Les Hauts et les Bas. Richard Blaimert conceived the show, and Jocelyn Deschênes is the executive producer, both of whom worked on the original series. Following the less successful Rumours, it was the CBC's second effort in as many years to develop an English adaptation of a successful series from its French sister network. The sitcom was purchased by ABC Family, a division of Disney-ABC Television Group in the United States, in February 2008. The network committed to the first 13 episodes of the show, as well as a second season option. The sitcom was canceled by CBC on March 27, 2009, due to low ratings.
