Sheldon Reynolds produced the 39 half-hour stories, most of which were original, and Guild Films filmed them in France with Ronald Howard as Holmes and Howard Marion Crawford as Watson. Inspector Lestrade was played by Archie Duncan in a number of episodes. In around fifteen episodes, Richard Larke, credited as Kenneth Richards, played Sgt. Wilkins. Nicole Milinaire, the show's associate producer, was a trailblazer in the television industry as a woman in a senior production capacity.
