Salatut elämät is a Finnish television show that debuted on MTV3 on January25, 1999. It was Finland's first, and so far only, daily soap opera. Over 2,500 episodes have aired during the series' 14-year run. On August17,2009, it was announced that Salatut elämät would remain on the air until the spring of2015, making it the second longest-running drama series in Finland, trailing only Yle TV1's Kotikatu. The narratives of the series follow the daily lives of different families who live in the same Helsinki apartment building. The villagers of Pihlajakatu and its surrounding environs are the focus of the series. Only three of the original twenty characters, Seppo, Ismo, and Kalle, are still in the series, and the majority of the series' current characters debuted in 2008 or later. Every weekend, MTV3 broadcasts repeats of the series. The channel airs repeats of the series during the summer; in the summer of2011, episodes from seasons 2006–2007 and 2007–2008 were aired. Romeo & Rafael Desperados debuted in2008, Lillukanvarsia debuted in2010–2011, Tuuliranta debuted in2011–2012, and "Young guy cash man" debuted in 2013.
