Out of the Unknown
Out of the Unknown is a British television science fiction anthology drama series that aired on BBC2 in four series from 1965 to 1971. Each episode acted out a science fiction short story. Some were written specifically for the series, while the majority were adaptations of already published stories. The first three years were entirely dedicated to science fiction, but in the final year, that genre was abandoned in favor of horror/fantasy pieces. Several episodes were deleted in the early 1970s, as was typical practice at the time. A substantial number of episodes are still lost, but some do appear from time to time; for example, Level Seven from series two, first broadcast on October 27, 1966, was returned to the BBC in January 2006 from the archives of a European broadcaster.
