Best friends Lizzy (who is lesbian and somewhat Type A) and Luke (who is straight and more chill) are like family. When they were children and both of their parents were divorcing, they stuck together and have remained close ever since. Now that they are adults and still unmarried, they have chosen to have their own family. One night, following yet another unsuccessful attempt at conception, the couple goes to a bar to blow off steam. Luke meets Prudence there, a free-spirited British girl who is scheduled to return to England in a few days.
