Monsters is a horror anthology series that aired from 1988 to 1991 on the Sci-Fi Channel. Monsters airs in intermittent weekday marathons on NBC Universal's Chiller channel. Monsters had the same producer as Tales from the Darkside and succeeded it. Nonetheless, there were some differences. While Tales occasionally included science fiction and fantasy stories, this series focused solely on horror. Each episode of Monsters featured a different creature, from an artificial puppet to weaponized lab mice. Monsters stories were rarely conventional action storylines and frequently had an ironic conclusion in which a character's vanity or avarice did him in, often with horrible repercussions. A sense of humor, frequently missed in horror productions, added to the overall eeriness of the production.
