Max Headroom
Maxim Headroom was an American sci-fi satire that aired on ABC from March 1987 to May 1988. It was created in the United Kingdom by Chrysalis Visual Programming and Lakeside Productions for Lorimar-Telepictures. The show was based on the Channel 4 British TV pilot, Max Headroom: 20 Minutes into the Future, created by Chrysalis. Since the show is set in the United States and features a largely American cast, it is often mistaken for an American-produced show. To accompany the UK pilot, Cinemax ran six weeks of highlights from the music video show The Max Headroom Show, which includes appearances by the host between song clips. Chrysalis/Lakeside was requested to develop the show for US viewers after ABC showed interest in the pilot. Late in 1986, production began on the six-episode first season, followed by eight in the second.
