Kavanagh QC
Kavanagh QC was a British ITV programme from 1995 until 2001. Series 1–6 are available on Region 2 DVD. John Thaw played barrister James Kavanagh QC, a working-class Bolton native. This is only uncovered in later episodes as his parents' health deteriorates and through an exchange with a colleague who thought Kavanagh was Yorkshire. The series covered his law fights and family troubles, such as the loss of his beloved wife. Later, he dates a lawyer. Kavanagh normally defends a client who seems sure to be convicted until a twist in the case, although sometimes he prosecutes. Kavanagh's cases generally involve racism, sexism, or other prejudices. Subplots centered on Jeremy, a pompous barrister in chambers. Kavanaugh won't stand for injustice and won't be bullied by threats or bribes in court.
