Kath & Kim is the American adaptation of the Australian television comedy series of the same name, which stars Selma Blair and Molly Shannon. The show debuted on NBC on October 9, 2008. The original stars of the Australian version, Jane Turner and Gina Riley, also act as executive producers and advisors on this version, which is co-produced by Reveille Productions and Universal Media Studios. Its debut episode aired on the Seven Network in Australia on Sunday, October 12, and its Australian transmission was discontinued after the second episode the following week. After the first-run airing of episode 9, "Friends," the series was pushed to a graveyard schedule of 11 p.m. Mondays, and subsequently pre-empted for the 2009 Australian Open. NBC brought up Kath & Kim for a full season order of 22 episodes on October 31, 2008, despite initial low numbers and mixed reviews from reviewers. NBC reduced the episode order from 22 to 17 episodes on January 15, 2009. The season finale of the show aired on March 12, 2009. NBC confirmed the series' termination on May 19, 2009.
