Jack of All Trades is a syndicated action-comedy TV show that ran for two seasons in 2000. Each episode is half an hour long. It was part of the Back2Back Action Hour with Cleopatra 2525. Both shows were notable because they were the first non-animated American action shows to be made in the half-hour format since the 1970s. In the middle of its second season, the show was taken off the air. The show takes place at the turn of the 19th century on the made-up island of Pulau-Pulau in the East Indies, which is ruled by the French. Jack Stiles is a secret agent from the United States. President Jefferson sent him there. While he is there, he meets Emilia Rothschild, a British spy and the woman he likes. The two of them work together to stop Napoleon and other threats to the United States. The public sees Jack as Emilia's attaché, but when he needs to, he changes into The Daring Dragoon, a masked hero. There were many running jokes on the show, such as Jack being responsible for many important historical events but not getting credit for them, Emilia coming up with a miraculous invention that was a clear deus ex machina, sexual puns and innuendos, and the ongoing romantic tension between Jack and Emilia.
