Freddy's Nightmares
Freddy's Nightmares is an American horror anthology series that aired from October 1988 to March 1990 on syndication. Each story in this Nightmare on Elm Street spin-off was introduced by Freddy Krueger. This format is comparable to that of Alfred Hitchcock Presents, Tales from the Crypt, and The Twilight Zone. Tobe Hooper directed the pilot episode, which begins with Freddy Krueger's acquittal on accusations of child murder due to his arresting officer's failure to review the Miranda warning. Freddy is eventually cornered by a crowd of parents in a power plant, where he is torched by a police officer, dies, and assumes his famous appearance. New Line Television, who also produced the film series, produced the series. It was distributed initially by Lorimar-Telepictures. After acquiring Lorimar-Telepictures, Warner Bros. Television would, however, assume syndication rights.
