Earth: Final Conflict is a science fiction television series that was produced in Canada under the supervision of Gene Roddenberry's widow, Majel Barrett-Roddenberry. The show is based on story concepts that were conceived of and developed by Gene Roddenberry. After his passing, it was not developed, filmed, or distributed to the public. It premiered on October6,1997, and ended on May20,2002, after five seasons on the air. The producers decided to modify the name of the show from Battleground: Earth because they felt that it was too similar to the title of a novel written by L. Ron Hubbard titled Battlefield Earth. Majel Barrett-Roddenberry was the one in charge of producing the show as an executive producer. In the early episodes, she also made a cameo appearance as the character Dr. Julianne Belman. Barrett was in possession of notes that Roddenberry had preserved detailing his ideas for stories and shows. After Roddenberry's passing, these notes served as the foundation for this series.
