Earth 2 is a television series that aired on NBC from November6, 1994 to June4, 1995. After a 22-episode first season, the show was discontinued. It recounts the trip and settlement of the Eden Project, a tiny expeditionary crew with the goal of traveling to an Earth-like planet called G889 in order to find a treatment for a disease known as "the syndrome." Michael Duggan, Carol Flint, Mark Levin, and Billy Ray devised the show, which was produced by Amblin Entertainment and Universal Television and shot mostly in northern New Mexico around Santa Fe. David Bergeaud composed the series' music, and Michael Duggan, Mark Levin, and Carol Flint served as executive producers. The show's audience was initially extremely strong, reaching eighth place; but, by April 23 the following year, the Nielsen ratings share had declined from 23% to 9%. It was nominated for Primetime Emmys, Saturn Honors, and other awards during its run. The full series was released on DVD in a four-disc collection in 2005.
