Yellow Tanabe wrote and drew the manga series Kekkaishi, which is about supernatural things. From 2003 to 2011, Shogakukan published it in parts in the manga magazine Shnen Sunday. Viz Media got the rights to publish it in English in North America. It was turned into a 52-episode anime series by Sunrise, which ran from October 2006 to February 2008. Yoshimori Sumimura and Tokine Yukimura come from rival families of kekkai users. They must protect their school from the spirits that are drawn to the sacred land on which it is built. Kekkaishi received the 2007 Shogakukan Manga Award for sh?nen manga.
