Through their firm Smallfilms, Peter Firmin and Oliver Postgate produced the children's television program Bagpuss from 12 February 1974 to 7 May 1974. A bit sloppy and loose at the seams, the title figure was described as "an ancient, saggy, fabric cat." Even though there were only 13 episodes produced, the show is still well-remembered and was broadcast frequently in the UK over a period of thirteen years. In a BBC survey conducted in 1999, Bagpuss was voted the nation's favorite children's television show.
