The story is set in an universe where two countries, Arandas and Ingelmia, have been at odds for a long time. Tokimune, a young soldier from Arandas' Independent Unit8, protects a girl named Jamie who is being attacked by hostile forces. To live, he pilots the new mech Argevollen and fights. The new mech Argevollen is characterised by its U-Link system, which allows the Argevollen to adapt to its pilot's thoughts and cannot be piloted by anyone else. This customisation enables the pilot to mentally imagine what the mech will do when used, rather than physically moving and steering it.
