Are You Afraid of the Dark? is a Canadian-American anthology horror/fantasy TV series. The original series was made by both the Canadian company Cinar and the American company Nickelodeon. The show was filmed in Richmond, British Columbia, and in and around Montreal, Quebec, including their suburbs. The episode "The Tale of the Twisted Claw" was shown as a pilot in the United States on October31,1991, and in Canada on October30, 1990. Are You Scared of the Dark? The show aired on Nickelodeon's SNICK from August 15, 1992 through April 20, 1996. It was also shown on the YTV network in Canada from October 30, 1990 to June 11, 2000. Nickelodeon developed and aired a new series in 1999 and 2000 with fresh directors, writers, and actors. Tucker was the only original cast member to return for the sixth and seventh seasons. Ross Hull, however, came back for the final miniseries, which broke with the show's usual format by blurring the line between story and "reality."
