Andromeda is a Canadian/American science fiction TV show that was created by Robert Hewitt Wolfe and produced by Gene Roddenberry's widow, Majel Barrett. The show is based on ideas that Gene Roddenberry had for Star Trek but never used. It had Kevin Sorbo as High Guard Captain Dylan Hunt. The first episode aired on October2,2000, and the last one was on May13, 2005. Andromeda was filmed in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, and was made by Tribune Entertainment and Fireworks Entertainment. It was shown on Global TV in Canada and on WGN and other channels in the United States. In the United States, it was picked up by the Sci-Fi Channel halfway through the fourth season. Andromeda is one of two TV shows that are based on ideas Roddenberry had back in the 1960s and 1970s. Roddenberry used the name Dylan Hunt for the hero of two similar TV movie pilots he made in the mid-1970s called Genesis II and Planet Earth. Earth: Final Conflict is the other show that was made after Roddenberry's death from his notes.
