American Dreams is an American drama show on NBC. It is made by Once A Frog and Dick Clark Productions, along with Universal Network Television and NBC Studios. Jonathan Prince made the show, and Josh Goldstein and Prince worked on it. Prince was also one of the executive producers, along with Dick Clark. The first airing was on September 29, 2002. Most of the show happens in Philadelphia. It first aired on Sundays at 8:00 pm Eastern time, but from March 9, 2005, until the end of the third season, it aired at the same time on Wednesdays. The show tells the story of the Pryor family in 1960s Philadelphia. The first season is set in 1963–64, the second in 1964–65, and the third in 1965–66. When it first aired in Australia, the show was called "Our Generation," but when it came back for its second season, the name was changed back to "American Dreams." Emerson Hart, who is the lead singer of the band Tonic, wrote and performed the theme song "Generation." In 2003, Hart won the ASCAP award for Best Theme Song of Television for the song. The show won the "Future Classic" prize at the 2003 TV Land Awards.
