On November14,2000, 3-2-1 Penguins! was released as a series of Christian computer-animated cartoons. It took Big Idea, Inc. and Lyrick Studios, the same studios behind the long-running VeggieTales series, 18 weeks to sell the most copies of their direct-to-video series on Soundscan's kid video sales charts. as well as a record-breaking 1.5 million units of video sales. Since its release in2001, it has sold more than one million copies and ranked as the second most popular show on NBC's qubo Saturday morning kids block in 2008. Big Idea has made millions of dollars from 3-2-1 Penguins and VeggieTales combined. From2006–2012, 3-2-1 Penguins was broadcast on NBC, Ion Television, Telemundo, and Qubo following the release of six direct-to-video episodes by Big Idea from 2000–2003. Saturdays are Smile of a Child day on the Trinity Broadcasting Network, and the show is now available on their children's channel.
