In April 1942, a troop of American Army nurses is seized by the Japanese and imprisoned in a prisoner-of-war camp on the island of Bataan for three years. In the camp, Lt Margaret Ann Jessup, the camp's chief army nurse, survives and, as a colonel, testifies against the Japanese in front of a congressional subcommittee years after her capture.
