Shizuku's uncomplicated existence is governed by her passion for storytelling and writing. One day, she realizes that all of the library books she owns were originally checked out by the same individual: "Seiji Amasawa." Shizuku meets a kid her age whom she finds aggravating out of curiosity, only to discover to her astonishment that he is her "Prince of Books" As she draws closer to him, she realizes he only read all those books to get closer to her. Seiji hopes to become a violin maker in Italy, and it is his ambitions that prompt Shizuku to recognize that she has no clear direction in life. She writes a story about Baron, a figurine of a cat that belonged to Seiji's grandfather, to assess her writing abilities.
