In the not-too-distant future, androids will be widely used in a variety of applications. For Rikuo Sakisaka, who has grown up with robots and taken them for granted his entire life, it is a surprise one day to realize that Sammy, his house android, has begun acting independently and coming and going on her own. He discovers a weird statement written in her activity log: "Are you enjoying the Time of Eve?" He inquires further. His friend Masakazu Masaki, with whom he is traveling, follows Sammy's activities and comes across an interesting coffeehouse called "The Time of Eve." When they arrive at the cafe, Nagi, the barista, informs them that the main rule is that there will be no discrimination between humans and androids. Androids do not display their status rings within the cafe, and when customers leave, the door is automatically shut for two minutes to prevent anyone from following them and discovering their true nature.
