Japanese cult known as The Temple of Hades was told to work with the Japanese military in the 1930s to destroy China, and they complied. They purchase a large number of young children from impoverished families, who will be groomed to be lethal killing machines and serve the Japanese Empire. A member of this band of captives is Vajra, who was coerced by his captors into fighting for his survival, resulting in the death of his younger brother by mistake. Several years later, Vajra has grown up and has risen to become one of the most ruthless assassins in the Hades sect. Vajra flees to China and joins the Shaolin monks, where he gets spiritual enlightenment and becomes resolved to defend China in its fight against Japanese imperialism.
