The Trial
In 2016, a corruption scandal involving Dilma Rousseff's then vice president Michel Temer led to her impeachment and eventual expulsion from office. She follows the trial of Rousseff's defense team, Maria Augusta Ramos, from their perspective. The presence of the various parties progressively transform the proceedings into something like to theatrical in this courtroom drama. While huge emotions are being played out in the courtroom, lobbyists and supporters are pacing the hallways on the other side of the doors. Protesters are chanting in unison outside the modernist government buildings of Brasilia. Only Rousseff, the protagonist, maintains her cool demeanor.
