Blessed unmarried Bianca will remain unmarried until her evil-minded older sister Katharina marries. Lucentio, a wealthy Pisan merchant's son, has fallen for Bianca. For Bianca's sake, he pretends as a music and poetry tutor. Petrichio, a verona rascal on a mission to seduce a wealthy wife, arrives in Padua to do just that. Bianca's second suitor, Hortensio, suggests Katharina to Petruchio. To capture Katharina, Hortensio challenges him, and Petruchio accepts the challenge. Hortensio and Gremio, both Bianca's suitors, agree to foot Petruchio's bill.
