The Seminarian is a story about Ryan, a closeted gay student who is in his final semester of seminary studies when the story takes place. Despite his school's anti-homosexual stance, Ryan has two gay students-Gerald and Anthony-in whom he discreetly confides despite the school's hostile stance. As well as being close to his religiously devoted mother, who is now unaware of his sexual orientation, he has a close relationship with his brother. Before he can pursue doctoral studies at the university of his dreams, Ryan must first write a strong theology thesis. The relationship begins as Ryan is working on his thesis, which is entitled 'The Divine Gift of Love.' Ryan meets Bradley on the Internet and finds him to be a guy who is unwilling to commit to anything. As a result of his confiding in Gerald and Anthony, Ryan learns of their own romantic difficulties. As a result, Ryan begins to question his beliefs about God's gift of love.
