Val spent 13 years as Fabinho's nanny in So Paulo after abandoning her daughter Jessica in a small town in Pernambuco. She enjoys financial security but the shame of not having reared Jessica herself. Jessica arrives in Fabinho's life just before his university entrance examinations, wanting to give her mother a second opportunity.
