The Piano
After a long trip from Scotland, pianist Ada McGrath and her young daughter Flora are left on a beach in New Zealand with all of their things, including a piano. Ada has been mute since she was a child, and a local man named Alisdair Stewart has bought her to marry him. Ada doesn't try to get close to Alisdair, but she soon becomes interested in George Baines, a friend of Alisdair's who is friendly with Maori people. This leads to tense, life-changing conflicts.
