The Man Standing Next

In the 1970s, President Park of Korea holds complete power over the country, and he is also in charge of the KCIA, the institution that has more influence than any other part of the government. The director of the KCIA, KIM Gyu-pyeong, is the candidate who appears to have the best chance of becoming second-in-command. In the middle of a reign of fear, a former director of the KCIA named PARK Yong-gak, who is familiar with all of the government's covert operations, flees to the United States, where an inquiry into the scandal known as "Koreagate" is currently taking place. As the tension rises, the oppressive political maneuvering that is being carried out by all of the second-in-commands becomes more apparent.
