Dennis Barlow, a recent immigrant from England to Hollywood, discovers that he must arrange for his uncle's burial at the extremely well-run and lucrative Whispering Glades funeral home. Aimee Thanatogenos, one of their cosmeticians, catches his attention. But he faces three challenges: the owner Blessed Reverand Glenworthy's severe standards, embalmer Mr. Joyboy's competitive nature, and the embarrassment of currently holding a job at The Happy Hunting Ground, a pet cemetery.
