When Joan Boothe travels to Las Vegas with her husband, reporter David, she begins gambling in order to pass the time while he is working on a story. Her addiction to gambling is encouraged by the casino manager, and she eventually "borrows" David's expense money in order to feed her addiction. This finally brings their marriage to an end, but David does not give up on attempting to heal her.
