As a result of the death of his fireman father when he was just seven years old, Scott has been experiencing developmental delays. At the age of twenty-three, he's still pursuing a dream of becoming a tattoo artist that appears impossible to accomplish. To keep up with the Joneses, Scott hangs out with the boys, including Igor (the nerd), Oscar (the jock), Richie, and Kelsey (the slut). He also has an affair with his childhood buddy Kelsey. When Scott's mother begins dating a brash firefighter named Ray, a chain of events begins that forces Scott to confront his grief and take his first tentative steps toward moving on with his life.
