The Kindness of Strangers

Clara and her two sons make a hasty getaway from Clara's abusive husband with little more than their car and the intention of starting over in New York. After having their vehicle towed away, the family eventually runs across Alice, who assists them in finding a safe haven to stay in during the emergency. Clara runs into Marc while she is stealing food from a Russian restaurant known as the "Winter Palace." Marc has been granted the opportunity to assist the venerable establishment in regaining its former splendor. The 'Winter Palace' quickly turns into a site where unexpected meetings take place between people who are all going through some kind of difficulty and whom fate has now thrown together as a result.
