The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter

Singer is a deaf-mute whose little world brings him into contact with a young girl, Mick, who has a seemingly impossible desire of becoming a concert pianist, which Singer helps her achieve. Mick, who at first was hostile to Singer, eventually becomes friends with him, trying to broaden the scope of his little world. Also seeking assistance from Singer are three other major characters who recognize in him a formidable force.
