"The Family," a velvet-covered CD, is meant to touch man's extended family. The major plot, which begins with Carlo's baptism as a newborn on his grandfather's lap and finishes with Carlo as a grandfather holding a baby in his arms, is encircled by formal portraits, which serve as bookends to this 80-year saga. And we never leave the house, whose rooms serve as the structure of the picture. Which is more important: comfort or passion? Carlo was unable to make an informed decision until it was far too late.
