Mahree Bok, a South African farmer, is the author of this book. After Steve Biko's capture by the South African authorities, her father can't disguise his excitement. She is the daughter of a California congressman and lives in a magnificent house in Washington, D.C. That her host family would be black surprises Mahree when she gets selected for a semester at the Dellums' residence. They had no idea she's not even half-African.
